La CEPAL, a través del CELADE, participó en la Octava Reunión sobre Migración Internacional, organizada por la División de Población del Departamento de Asuntos Económicos y Sociales de las Naciones Unidas (DESA). El encuentro sigue la Resolución 58/208 de la Asamblea General del 13 de febrero de 2004, que solicita al Secretario General la organización continua de reuniones destinadas a coordinar actividades de migración internacional y desarrollo. ECLAC, through its Population Division, participated in the Eighth Coordination Meeting on International Migration, organized by the Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) of the United Nations. El proyecto cuenta con la colaboración de la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económico (OCDE), de donde proviene la idea original del sistema, basado en el modelo SOPEMI, y el taller se realizó en el marco del convenio entre la CEPAL y la OEA. The workshop was organized by the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Population Division of ECLAC - CELADE. The project relies on the collaboration of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where the original idea of the system, based on the model SOPEMI, comes from.
