Tourism Revenues Represent over 30% of GDP in Some of the Region's Countries
In Caribbean nations, the economic importance of tourism represents more than 16% of output.

ECLAC launches three studies on the subject:
Brazil, Argentina and Colombia Lead Biofuel Production in the Region
United Nations agency studied the opportunities and risks of developing these products in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In Cancún, ECLAC presented a report on the potential economic costs of climate change in the region by the end of the century if global mitigation and adaptive actions are not taken.

At the end of the Ministerial Conference held in Lima, Peru:
Countries Adopt Plan to Achieve an Information Society with Universal Access
Authorities in Latin America and the Caribbean approved the eLAC2015 Plan that aims to promote the use of ICTs as a means of achieving more inclusive development

According to an ECLAC report:
Poverty in Latin America Fell in 2010 and Returns to the Pre-Crisis Trend
Thanks to the region's economic recovery, the number of poor people will fall to the same levels as in 2008 (180 million inhabitants).
