Representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean will make progress in the application of Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development.
The aim is to transform and diversify the export pattern beyond raw materials and increase investment in knowledge-intensive sectors, according to the ECLAC Executive Secretary, Alicia Bárcena.
The collaboration includes an inter-agency report proposing strategic guidelines for sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean, to be submitted at the 2012 Summit.
