As part of her visit to Montevideo to attend the Fourth Ministerial Conference on the Information Society in Latin America and the Caribbean, Alicia Bárcena visited the central offices of the Latin America and Caribbean Network Information Centre (LACNIC) and the Internet Hub for Latin America and the Caribbean.
From 3 to 5 April in Montevideo, Uruguay: 
The opening of the Fourth Ministerial Conference on the Information Society will feature the President of Uruguay, the Executive Secretary of ECLAC and the Director of DG CONNECT.E of the European Commission.
At a seminar at the ECLAC headquarters in Santiago, Chile: 
The European Commission event was part of preparatory activities for the CELAC-European Union Summit of Heads of State and Government,
which will be held in January 2013.
During ministerial meeting in Ecuador: 
The conference on this topic will operate at the regional level from 2013 onwards.
