The activities of this work area focuses on developing a proposal of additional and complementary MDG indicators adapted to the regional context. The introduction of complementary goals and indicators is expected to improve the analysis in different thematic areas concerning the MDGs, especially in emerging fields.
Lines of action:
a. Adapting the MDG framework to the LAC region. Forums, summits, agreements and institutional commitments in Latin America and the Caribbean as the framework for incorporating additional MDG indicators.
b. Revision and standardization of MDG complementary indicators available for monitoring the MDGs.
c. Formal proposal of additional and complementary MDG indicators for the region.
d. Diffusion of statistical standards for the production of MDG indicators.

The political agenda of the region, the pending social challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean and the arisen of new problematic associated with the new century sceneries, demand new methodological approaches and new indicators that adapt better to the regional reality.
