New UN report highlights value of indicators for transitioning to green economy
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) today launched a new report that shows how indicators can measure progress towards a resource-efficient, green economy as well as inform policy decisions that support sustainable societies.

According to UN-Habitat estimates, between the year 2000 and 2010 a total 227 million people in developing countries have experienced significant improvements in living conditions.

At International Conference: "Making Slums History; A Global Challenge for 2020", officials sought to develop specific recommendations and guidelines for slum improvement, sharing and broadening the scope of experiences as well as devising a strategy for revising the slum target of the Millennium Development Goals.

Peace and security are essential to advance development, Mr. Jeremic said, stressing that the Assembly should focus not just on achieving the eight anti-poverty targets known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), but also on the post-2015 agenda.
