The World Statistics Day, has been programmed by the Statistical Commission of the United Nations on October 20, 2010. The celebration of this day will allow identifying the service lent by the regional, international agencies and subregional organisms to promote and facilitate the advance of the national statistical systems.
The Executive Committee of the Statistical Conference of the Americas of ECLAC in their ninth meeting, celebrated in Santiago, from 20 to 22 of April 2010, as part of their agreements, exhorts the member States of the Conference and the funds, programs and specialized United Nation agencies and international organizations to organize activities destined to celebrate this day, and addressed to an extensive audience that reaches from the responsible of the decision adoptions and data suppliers to the data users community, with the intention of conscious regarding the contributions of the official statistics based on the basic values of service, integrity and professionalism. At the same time it is requested to the President of the Executive Committee that, with the support of the Secretariat, to ally the member States, funds, programs and specialized United Nations agencies and international organizations to establish an extensive calendar of events for 2010 planned to celebrate the World Statistics Day.
