Ageing, solidarity and social protection in Latin America and the Caribbean Time for progress towards equality

This publication builds on the knowledge of the situation of older persons in our region at a time unlike any other in the subject’s history in the framework of the United Nations. One of the book’s main contributions is the link between ageing and gender equality, using an innovative conceptual approach and different indicators to facilitate its measurement in terms of social security, health and social services. The book also identifies and proposes tools for analysis and action with regard to public institutions, and for detailed examination of the guarantees needed to ensure equality in old age.
