(4 December 2012) On Tuesday 11 December at its headquarters in Santiago, Chile, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will present the document Preliminary Overview of the Economies of Latin America and the Caribbean 2012, which will provide its 2013 growth projections for the region's countries.
The annual report, which is one of the flagship publications of this United Nations regional commission, provides an analysis of economies' performance in the light of the recent world economic crisis. It will be launched at a press conference at 11:00 a.m. by Alicia Bárcena, ECLAC Executive Secretary.
The 2012 edition of the Preliminary Overview will describe the effects of the slowdown in the world economy on the nations of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as measures implemented by countries to date to counteract such effects.
It will also provide a general overview of the situation of fiscal and monetary variables, employment and wage performance in the region, and growth prospects for each country in 2013.
The media are invited to attend the press conference to launch this report, which will take place at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago, Chile (Av. Dag Hammarskjöld, 3477, Vitacura, Raúl Prebisch conference room).
