ECLAC Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean fulfils the mission of helping to promote Caribbean development. The Office provides statistics services and resources that: provide analysis of policy-related issues; help formulate evidence-based policies and programmes; deliver reliable indicators of progress toward the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and other internationally agreed development goals (IADGs); build the statistical capacity and expertise of Caribbean institutions and Governments; and provide technical assistance.

There are two primary statistics focus areas:

Statistical Capacity-building. ECLAC works closely with the Member States of the Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee (CDCC) in developing their statistical capacity and expertise. Measuring and Monitoring Progress on MDGs and IADGs. The Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean provides support to foster accurate, timely and relevant data and indicators, to help Caribbean countries measure progress toward the achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and internationally agreed development goals (IADGs); monitor plans and programmes of action arising from international conferences and assess gender equity.
