The twenty-fourth session of the Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee (CDCC) was convened in Georgetown, Guyana on 31 May 2012.

The twenty-fourth session of the Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee (CDCC) was held in Georgetown, Guyana on 31 May 2012. The CDCC reviewed the outputs of the Caribbean Development Round Table, and the Regional Coordinating Mechanism for implementation of the outcomes of the Mauritius Strategy for the further Implementation of the Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the programme of work for the ECLAC Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean, and address the matter of strengthening statistical capacities in the Caribbean. Finally, a report on findings from the second phase of the evaluation of the role of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in the Caribbean subregion will be presented.

The Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee was created by Resolution E/CEPAL/989/Rev.1, as a permanent subsidiary body of ECLAC to promote the economic and social development of ECLAC Member and Associate Member States in the Caribbean.

The Member States are Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. The Associate members are Anguilla, Aruba, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos Islands, and United States Virgin Islands.

The ECLAC Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean acts as the secretariat of the CDCC. Regular sessions of ministers are held every two years, with a meeting of the Monitoring Committee convened during the intervening year. The sessions are convened on dates that facilitate the transmission of relevant reports and decisions to the biennial sessions of ECLAC.
