 | | | Resumen / Abstract / Résumé: | | This project aims to improve access to energy services for the rural poor and promote the application of renewable energy through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). At the same time, it also promotes social inclusiveness (including gender responsiveness and traditional knowledge) as one of the key requirements for developing PPPs at the same time. The project will strengthen the capacity of decision and policy-makers, communities and private sectors as well as NGOs from developing countries to improve access to energy services in an integrated manner with locally available renewable energy resources. By developing a set of guidelines and tools to build up PPPs and develop strategies and policies, the project will be implemented through learning by doing approach to increase awareness and understanding of the issues on widening access to energy services for the rural poor. Various activities including policy dialogues, gap analysis, workshops and study tours will be organized at national, regional and inter-regional levels, and the pilot projects with business models tested as practical solutions will be conducted as well in selected countries. Last but not least, the collaboration with existing regional and subregional institutions and centres of excellence is expected to sustain and multiply project impacts and ensure sharing of good practices at the regional/inter-regional level and would provide the basis for development of sustainable energy security programmes for a wider cross section of populations. The project will also benefit from the work already done by ESCAP and other agencies. | | Objetivos / Objectives / Objectifs: | - The objective of the project is to build capacity of policymakers, civil society and the private sector for engaging PPP (Public-Private Partnerships) to enhance energy security and improve access to energy services
