 | | Unpaid labour and social protection of women. | | | | Resumen / Abstract / Résumé: | | The impact of the crisis on gender equality has received less attention, especially from decision-makers. In light of the relationships between State, market, society and the family, the present project proposes to examine the most significant consequences of the financial crisis on men?s and women?s employment in all sectors of the labour market, with a particular focus on the gender division of labour. Inasmuch as women were over-represented in precarious and poorly paid jobs before the crisis, these tendencies are likely to be aggravated by the already heavy burden of domestic care work, unless policies are in place to address the problem. | | Objetivos / Objectives / Objectifs: | - To enhance national capacities of governments to formulate public policies that promote gender equality through the documentation and dissemination of substantive information and analysis as well as the provision of technical assistance, related to the gender effects of the international economic crisis in selected countries of Latin America
| | Resultados / Results / Résultats: | - Enhanced knowledge of national authorities on the contribution of women to social protection and welfare in the dual dimensions of paid and unpaid work
- Strengthened capacities of the countries to formulate public policies that promote gender equality
