 | | Social protection strategies for an ageing population. | | | | Resumen / Abstract / Résumé: | | The role od ECLAC in issues of ageing and social protection is to provide member coutries with technical assistance in implementing and monitoring the Regional Strategy on Aging and the Brasilia Declaration. Technical assistance is provided on the following themes; design, montoring and evaluation of public policies targeting older persons, human resource training on ageing issues, support for positioning ageing on the public agenda, comparative regional research and generating ans disseminating socio demographic information on the issue. | | Objetivos / Objectives / Objectifs: | - To improve the mainstreaming of the interests and needs of older people into all aspects of development and policy-making in the countries of the region, according the recommendations of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA) and its main regional adaptations (the Regional Strategy and the Brasilia Declaration) from a perspective of inclusion and social protection.
| | Resultados / Results / Résultats: | - Governments and stakeholders working in the area of ageing will have improved their knowledge and technical capacity for designing and monitoring social protection policy from the perspective of the rights of older persons
- National institutions for older persons will have increased their technical capacity for playing a guiding role on ageing issues and incorporating and intergenerational perspective in public policy
- Stakeholders in government and civil society involved in ageing issues will have increased their capacity to influence public policy from a perspective of social protection and inclusion for persons of all ages
