 | | Economía del Cambio Climático en Centroamérica | | | | Resumen / Abstract / Résumé: | | Phases II and III of the Project The Economics of Climate Change in Central America seek to make an assessment of the main economic consequences for the countries of the region, as well as the related costs for different socioeconomic sectors. It also includes a study of the impacts and possible actions in adaptation and reduction of vulnerability, as well as in mitigation, relative to a scenario of inaction. Thus, the costs of adaptation, reduction of vulnerability and mitigation actions will be estimated. An important component of the Project is related to strengthening national capacities in the topics linked to the studies. The latter was expressly requested by Central America?s Environment Ministers. The aim is for the studies of the Project to be made with the participation of national specialists in coordination with regional institutions and national institutions in charge of economic planning and budgeting. The Project also aims at strengthening the capacity for negotiations in the multilateral process coordinated by the UNFCCC. | | Objetivos / Objectives / Objectifs: | - General aim: To alert decision-makers, international negotiators and key stakeholders in Central America of the urgency of responding to the challenge of climate change by providing robust information on the nature of the threat.
