 |  | EUrocLIMA |  | | | Resumen / Abstract / Résumé: | | Climate change is unquestionably the challenge of our times. As such, "Sustainable Development: Environment, Climate Change and Energy" was one of the key themes of the 5th Summit between Heads of State and Government of the EU and LAC countries (May 2008, Lima, Perú) where the Lima Declaration, a bi-regional commitment to jointly tackle human-induced climate change causes and reiterates the linkages between the fight against climate change, poverty, inequality and sustainable development. EUrocLIMA constitute a joint EU-LAC collaboration to address complex crosscutting issues that need to be understood from diverse angles: multistakeholder meetings, scientific, technological and socioeconomic perspectives, institutional capacity building, and expertience sharing and information dissemination. It will encourage bi-regional environmental cooperation with a special focus on improving knowledge of decision makers and the scientific community on problems and consequences of climate change, particularly in integrating these issues into sustainable development strategies. | | Objetivos / Objectives / Objectifs: | - To further integrate climate change considerations into socio-economic policymaking by the Governments of Latin America, in the framework of sustinable development.
| | Resultados / Results / Résultats: | - Information and knowledge sharing: (A) Greater knowledge on socio-economic impacts of climate change and climate change policies, especially where the region's most vulnerable groups are concerned, is generated. (B) Information on climate change socio-economic impact data is being discussed and shared among key institutions, especially with stakeholders from areas other than environmental affairs.
- Capacity building: Key stakeholders are trained on integrating socioeconomic aspects of climate change in decision making.
