The 24th session of the Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee (CDCC) will be held in Georgetown, Guyana on 31 May 2012.

The CDCC will review the outputs of the Caribbean Development Round Table, and the Regional Coordinating Mechanism for implementation of the outcomes of the Mauritius Strategy for the further Implementation of the Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States.

The Second Caribbean Development Round (CDR) Table to be held in Georgetown, Guyana on 30 May 2012.

This event is being held, pursuant to Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee (CDCC) resolution 73(XXIII), entitled 'Support for the role of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in the Caribbean and enhancing the functions of the Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee'.

Preliminary overview of the Caribbean economies: 2010- 2011

The impact of the economic crisis of 2008-2009 was especially severe on the Caribbean. In the case of Latin America and the Caribbean as a whole, the growth rate is anticipated to be 5.9%; however, the Caribbean will grow much more slowly. While the prospects for growth in the Caribbean are better in 2010 and 2011 relative to 2009, for a number of countries the recovery will be slow.
